TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE

One of the newest strategic business units in COAT, the telecommunications infrastructure business focusses on providing products and services related to telecom active and passive networks to telecom service providers like Omantel, Ooredoo, Awasr, Oman Broadband, Telecom Oman (TeO), as well as security establishments, ministries, industries like oil & gas, and finance, aviation and construction sectors. The department also operates in niche telecom areas like telecom satellite services, and telecom managed services in association with telecom operators.

As the Oman representatives for global networking equipment suppliers, Nokia Communications and FiberHome, COAT distributes:

  • active telecom equipment for core networks, transport networks and access networks to operators like Omantel, Ooredoo, Awasr, and Oman Broadband.

As part of the partnership with FiberHome, one of the largest manufacturers in the world for telecom network products, COAT also distributes:

  • products for optical distribution networks (ODN)
  • fiber cable and accessories

The Division also undertakes telecom outside plant (OSP) services for telecom operators, large organizations and ministries with large networks. This includes planning, designing, supply, and implementation, including civil works and maintenance services. Services are also provided for fiber backbone to access network up to the end-user premises, for both copper and fiber.

Other areas that COAT is active in the telecommunication infrastructure business are:

  • wireless communication including backhaul, access connectivity and enterprise point to point connectivity in association with Redline and Galore Networks.
  • satellite connectivity for voice and data for emergency communication requirements in partnership with Inmarsat, the world’s leading satellite solutions & services provider.
  • VSAT Connectivity for data communication with technology from Hughes Communications and iDirect.
  • solutions for private radio communications (VHF, UHF, private VoLTE, and Tetra solutions) from leading vendors like Motorola and Damm.
  • telecom network passive infrastructure and services such as supply, installation and commissioning of telecom towers, shelters, power back-up, etc.
  • Network planning & optimization services, network I&C services and managed services for maintaining GSM networks.
