CHAIRPERSON – MHD ITICS
Honorable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish is the Chairperson of Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC- a leading business house contributing to the growth of Oman’s economy. She was one of the two women to be elected to the country’s consultative council - Majlis A’ Shuraa and has been elected twice to this honorary position from the Wilayat of Muscat. She was appointed as a member of the State Council by Royal Decree in November 2015 and is presently a member of the esteemed Council. A graduate in English Literature from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), she began her career as a lecturer at SQU, before joining the family business.
Honourable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish is one of the flag-bearers of Omani Women power and has been a trailblazer in uplifting, empowering and inspiring young Omani women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders alike. She is on the Board of the Advisory Committee for The National Program for Leadership & Competitiveness and a member of the Working Team of Partnership between the Public and Private Sectors at the Diwan of Royal Court.
A committed - contributor to the social, cultural and business landscape of Oman, she currently holds various honorary and important positions such as The Chairperson of Oman-China Friendship Association; Omani-Italian Friendship Association; Member of the GCC Women Forum; Member to the Board of Trustees of Al-Zahra College for Women, Oman; and Ex-Board Member of Dar Al Atta’a - a Charitable Association formed in 2002.
Honourable Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish is also a former member of various important organisations such as the Arab International Women’s Forum, the Board of the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Board of The Omani Center for Investment Promotion & Export Development (Ithraa Oman).
In addition to the above, she has been a recipient of various awards and nominations including:
- Winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year – 2001 – award instituted by OCIPED
- The ‘Flame of Excellence’ award in 2002
- Winner of the Women’s Voice in Business & Politics – Datamatix, Dubai – 2003
- She was nominated as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005 amongst the 250 leaders around the world
- Honoured by the Ministry of Social Development as one of the 27 Leading Women in Oman out of 210 nominees
- She ranked 13th amongst 50 most powerful businesswomen in the Arab World by Forbes Arabia in their first ever listing in 2006
- Awarded the Woman of the Year – Al Mar’a Excellence Awards – 2011
- Ranked 21st amongst the 50 most powerful businesswomen in the Arab World as per the survey conducted by Forbes Arabia Magazine in its May 2008 issue

- She is the first woman in the Gulf and the second in the Arab World to head a football club – ‘The Sidab Club’, which then opened a new vista for - women in Oman

- World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Sultanate of Oman – April 2006
- In 2018, she spoke at the WTO public forum-Geneva, on “Leadership beyond the veil” on the significance of Omani women leaders
- She addressed the Opening plenary of the IRU World Congress 2018 in Muscat
Hon. Lujaina considers workforce as the backbone and driving force for any organization. The staffs have been the biggest strength of MHD LLC since its inception.
